His clients are both children and adults aged 3-72. Their most common issues are:

ADHD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, migraine. Also autism, alcohol/substance abuse, eating disorders, PTSD, anger, learning and processing difficulties. There are also clients interested in optimal performance such as students, meditators, artists, performers, professionals and executives.

Gary Ames started learning and teaching biofeedback in the 1970s in San Francisco. He taught psychology full time at Penn State and Delaware County Community College and part time at several others colleges. After earning his MBA in 1983 he also taught courses in business.

In 1984 he became an executive coach assisting individuals with their job search. He worked closely with well over 1000 managers, professionals and executives in all industries to help them attain a better job.

Gary emphasized assessment and reaching down deep to recall and articulate each client’s best work. The accomplishment material bred confidence and the stories helped every aspect of the job campaign until they were poised to succeed in a new position.

Gary returned to biofeedback and neurofeedback in 2003 with intensity. He quickly absorbed the basics and nuances of advanced techniques. He became certified in the most complex and sophisticated neurofeedback methodology by completing The Technical Certification Course in NeuroCARE Pro (Comprehensive Adaptive Renormalization of EEG): “The Period 3 Approach To Central Nervous System Functional Transformation Using Non-Linear, Dynamical Control Procedures.”

Gary was an early adoptor of the Passive Infrared Hemoencephalography, a new form of neurofeedback. He was impressed by the stunning clinical and experimental results achieved in just the past few years by this sub-group within the neurofeedback community. This method is effective with migraines and improving executive cognitive functions.

Gary Ames is or has been an active member of the International Society of Neurofeedback and Research, and the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback in their Neurofeedback Division. He earnes nearly all his professional training at professional meetings on biofeedback and neurofeedback. Gary is also a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Behavioral Medicine and Biofeedback.

Gary is also Executive Director of Behavior Analysis & Therapy, a psychological consulting firm in Bala Cynwyd. Our origin is in BHRS or wrap-around services and we are expanding from there.
